which two starters will make the rotation. i know spring numbers are not that important but through the spring so far i am leaning towards Jason Marquis and Jon Lieber. they have looked the best so far. i have heard for a while that Ryan Dempster was locked in the third spot. are you serious??? he gave up 6 in the 2nd inning today. lieber on the otherhand and pitched four innings and gave up only two hits. he has to be my favorit for the #3 spot for now. jason marquis has throw great since the club house interview that suppossedly put him at odds with manager lou piniella. he hasnt given up a run since. he is my #5. honestly i am leaning towards Sean Marshall as the sixth guy and dempster at a lonely seventh. he hasnt proved it to me yet. when it goes bad for demps he cannot pitch his way out of it. he started getting hit today and it only got worse. the others have shown the ability to work through a rough inning. we need to save our bullpen as much as possible.

former japanese professionals and the ROY award
we all know that former japanese professional baseball players are eligible for the mlb ROY award. is it really fair? one would ultimately assume that Kosuke Fukudome of the chicago Cubs would be the early prediction for the NL ROY award. he is 30 years old and has like 9 years of professional experience prior to entering this season. the questions i am asking is should former japanese professionals be eligible for this award? i have heard diffferent comparisons for the japanese leagues with most coming in as having it comparable to AAA. however some believe the elite league in japan (the one fukudome, Ichiro Suzuki, Hideki Matsui, etc., played in) as more like a AAAA league. i know this toopic has been debated before on numerous occasions but it has never really been relevant to cubs fans. now it is. as a cubs fan i would love to see fukudome play great baseball and win the ROY award, but more so just play great baseball. what is everyone elses take on the situation?

will angel guzman ever be healthy???
i was just curious. this kid has so much talent but has not been able to bring it to the Cubs major league team. he has a blazing fastball and a few other solid pitches to go with it but has been plagues by injuries for what seems like his entire minor league career. i wish he would be healthy enough to eventually get a shot somewhere, whether with the cubs or somewhere else. he really could be a quality major league pitcher if he could pull it all together, that being said i dont ever see him being healthy long enough to reach his high potential.

the "real" truth to pitching
does anyone seriously think that it takes two aces to win a world series. i think that history has shown that winning the world series is more about teams that play all around ball, and have solid pitching that is in a groove at the time. world series past are filled with pitchers that were not spectacular but rather performed inn a spectacular manner. is Jeff Suppan or Jeff Weaver an ace? no but they sure looked like it in the 06 series. can you consider anyone on the 07 Red Sox behind Josh Beckett an ace? i dont think so. evereyone wants their team to have all of the quality pitching they can get but no one wants to realize the truth behind supply and demand. how many ace caliber pitcher are in the league today? it is a debatable question, but nonetheless the number is not equal to the number of teams. finances alone would inhibit teams from loading up on ace pitchers. if it wasnt the case the Yankees would have five aces right now, cause we all know king george is not afraid to spend a little money.
